Doha:
The India-based Wipro Limited, a global IT service company is looking
forward to expanding its customer base in Qatar having established
its position in the Qatari market.
Though the company did not disclose its future strategies, its
officials were very optimistic about their expansion plans to be
followed, while speaking at a press conference held at the Marriott
Hotel yesterday.
Having started its operations here in 2002, it has built a strong
customer base in the country, they claimed.
"Being a rapidly growing IT services market, Middle East forms
a critical component of our global strategy. Wipro is extremely
committed to build a strong customer base in the Middle East and
Qatar. We will continue to provide value to our customers through
our global experience, understanding of various technology domains
and bringing customized solutions to our customers in the region",
said Suresh Vaswani, president, Wipro.
The company had been selected by the Qatar Petroleum (QP) to provide
technology consulting services for their Ras Abu Aboud development
project as a consequence of QP's objective to explore the use of
convergence for the new QP complex.
The 11-month project involved Wipro consultants working on designing,
architecting and testing the solution in Qatar Petroleum.
Wipro has successfully completed two projects in Qatar. It has
successfully completed the engineering consultancy and IP telephony
testing project for Qatar Petroleum for the proposed QP complex,
he added.
"We look forward to adding value to our customers' technology
initiatives through our expertise in global delivery and knowledge
of technology domain. We hope to further strengthen our business
in the region in coming years," Vaswani said.
